Thanks to a partnership with the City Administration and the Robotics Festival currently taking place at the CONI Center, Pisa Sporting Club will make its facilities available for an innovative device that will allow people with visual impairments to follow the Pisa-Napoli match in real time.
This is a test—already trialed during last Wednesday’s Coppa Italia final—conducted using a device developed by Field of Vision. In essence, these are portable tactile devices that allow people with visual impairments to experience the game through:
Tracking All key match information is tracked and sent to the device with a delay of less than 0.5 seconds.
Motion: A magnetic ball tracks the movements of the live game on a touch-sensitive surface, indicating the ball’s position as it moves.
Feeling: Haptic feedback provides additional detail, conveying key actions such as passes, tackles, and goals through vibrations.
This is an important message of inclusivity aimed at making soccer increasingly accessible to everyone. For Pisa Sporting Club, it is another step in a series of projects focused on sustainability in all its forms and aspects.
“This is a great opportunity that technology is offering our city thanks to the Robotics Festival currently taking place at the CONI Center in Tirrenia,” said Frida Scarpa, Councilor for Sports. “I am proud of the concrete work done by the administration and all the festival’s partners to make inclusion a reality and ensure its effectiveness”
