During Breast Cancer Awareness Week, Pisa Sporting Club also wanted to make a tangible contribution. The event organised by the Inter Milan Club’s CSR department, in collaboration with Gruppo Paim, Lab33, the International Breast Cancer Association and Europa Donna Italia, was a great success; a day spent in the heart of the Cetilar Arena, dedicated to the topic of prevention, featuring prominent speakers and concluding with a fascinating tour of the stadium accompanied by representatives from the Cento Association.
After conveying greetings from Pisa Sporting Club, Letizia Corsoni, Head of Sales Operations and Sustainability, handed over to Frida Scarpa, Councillor for Sport at Pisa City Council, who reaffirmed the local authority’s commitment to and support for these initiatives. This was followed by presentations from Dr Maria Cristina Cossu, a breast radiologist and member of the Scientific Committee of the Paim Group, and Dr Edna Maria Ghobert, President of the International Breast Association, who addressed the topic of breast health from complementary perspectives: prevention and early diagnosis, as well as the wider impact.
Pisa SC’s commitment has been to put its awareness-raising efforts into practice, involving ambassadors, institutions and associations to draw the attention of female supporters to an issue that is vital to the health and wellbeing of them all.
To understand what steps you can take on your own to detect any suspicious abnormalities, and to learn about the pathways the health service provides to access early diagnosis and treatments, so that you can intervene promptly and prevent the disease from progressing. This is precisely why Pisa Sporting Club has shared Michela’s story: like so many other women, she experienced the fear and bewilderment of facing a cancer diagnosis, but she found the strength to transform her pain into resolve and determination, turning the illness into nothing more than a daunting setback along her life’s journey.
Pisa Sporting Club would like to remind all Nerazzurri female supporters and all women that prevention is your best friend: regular check-ups are the key to fighting breast cancer.
