There will be a bit of Nerazzurro in Ecuador.
Pisa Sporting Club has, in fact, heeded the call from the Rotary Club of Pisa to support the work and efforts of Father Marco Szymanski, the delegate for the mission in Ecuador in Santo Domingo de los Colorados, in the Ruminahui neighborhood: a mission that focuses primarily on helping poor and malnourished children in the area—who often live on the streets—by operating shelters and support centers.
The Nerazzurri Club has decided to donate to Father Marco a quantity of Sporting Club-branded sports equipment for the children at the mission, as well as a soccer ball—painted, as mentioned, in Nerazzurri colors—for the mission’s soccer field, which was recently renovated and made safe thanks to the contribution and support of the Rotary Clubs of Pisa, Pisa Galilei, Pontedera, Calci, and Monti Pisani, as well as the “Gioia di vivere” Association, all of whom have come to know and appreciate the work of Father Marco, who has ties to our city through his service at the Parish of San Francesco.
The materials were presented today during a brief ceremony in the “Passaponti” press room at the Cetilar Arena, attended by representatives of the Nerazzurri Club, Father Marco, Rocco Di Vita (“Gioia di Vivere” Association), Giuseppe Turchetti (President of the Rotary Club of Pisa), Susanna Ferulli (President of the Rotary Club of Cascina and Monte Pisano), and Cornelia Laino Mori (President of the Rotary Club of Pisa Galilei).
The sports equipment will be used at an upcoming event to inaugurate the sports field, which will therefore be decked out in black and blue.
